George Hiram drowned at the age of 27 years in a boating accident. Norman B. Sawyer, (age 17) son of Christopher Sawyer, also died in the same incident. The two would have been second cousins. George's body was not recovered until the following fall, just a few weeks before the murder of his brother, William Henry Sawyer. (Source?)
